SystemR36
SystemR36 is a completely custom designed Linux Distro for the (real) R36S and R36H, which is 100% optimized for those two devices which I’m currently developing. All the way from the bootloader to the userspace and even completely new and custom UI tools.
If you are however currently seeing this text, then you are most likely not enrolled in the (closed) beta program and thus you will be seeing this ‘placeholder’ for now. You might here and there see some things ‘pop-up’ already on my website for/about SystemR36, and in the future I might also post some public updates/progress on here.
For now I can tell you that I have made several very important improvements already (IF you for example consider coming from ArkOS), some of these changes are:
– Nearly completely custom (re)written U-Boot specifically for the R36S/R36H
– EXTREMELY Cleaned up and optimized dtb files specifically for the R36 units (Several display panels!)
– Highly optimized boot sequence of the R36 (from the bootloader all the way into the kernel)
– Several ‘system tools’ ArkOS used to use have been completely re-written (from scratch) to deliver more efficient tools (both in performance and capabilities)
– We’re currently heavily testing (and can’t make permanent promises!) but I’ve currently got it running on a modern Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base
– The volume buttons and power button handler + brightness control is had been completely re-written from scratch
– I’ve designed a completely custom UI (which will be GPL libraries) which allows users to much much more easily make their own ‘desktop style’ applications for SystemR36
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for now. I will leave it at that, but can promise you that this is not even 5% of what is about to come 😉
NOTE: Enrollment in the beta program is currently not possible, because I first want to have it user friendly enough to be easily deploy-able to SD-Cards, and because I’m currently still making massive changes and improvements to the base system daily, it’s just not feasible to keep uploading these changes over and over, and then expecting testing users to apply these changes manually. And otherwise I would need to keep making an image daily (or weekly) with functions which are still full-on in development. So please be patient and make sure to keep an eye on my YouTube for more information in the future, and keep checking in on this page for possible public updates.
